We are in Rabat, Morocco awaiting suitable weather and wind
for the two day passage to Agadir, our final stop in Morocco. Other than one day devoted to toilet repair, most of our
time has been spent on tourist activities. The three of us took a three day train trip to Casablanca
and Marrakesh. Our visit will leave us with lasting memories. Here is our top
ten memories list so far:
1. waiting six hours for high tide outside
Rabat harbor and then surfing Georgia j into the river and marina.
2. touring
the ancient fortresses and towns of Rabat, Sale and Marrakesh.
3. washing down the
couscous with Moroccan beer in a sidewalk cafe in Casablanca.
4. visiting the amazing
new Hassan II mosque in Casablanca.
5. Our knowledgeable, articulate guide in Marrakesh who cheated us at the end of the tour.
6.
The snake charmers (cobras) and trained monkeys in the grand square of Marrakesh.
7. Bargaining
with street vendors and shop owners with occasional success.
8. Touring the leather
tannery in Marrakesh, a truly hellish place.
9. Riding the modern Moroccan trains and seeing the donkey traffic jams in crowded streets.
10. Walking to our hotel in the labyrinth of
Marrakesh alleys where even the guides were lost.
Our
camera has died, so our thanks goes to Harold for the following great photos:
